167 members of mexican cartel go to trial in the state of Michoacan

Morelia, Michoacán.- During the night of Tuesday and the morning of this Wednesday, a control judge of the Judicial Power of the Federation declared legal the detention of the 164 adults apprehended last Saturday in the municipality of Uruapan.

After the initial hearing that began on Tuesday night and lasted until Wednesday morning, the judge also decided to impose informal preventive detention, for which the detainees were transferred to the “Lic. David Franco Rodríguez” Social Reintegration Center.

After the decision of the federal judge, the defense of those involved requested the duplicity of the constitutional term, which was granted.

Previously, during the course of Tuesday, a first hearing was held in which the judge also declared legal the detention of three minors who were among the detainees.

Next Sunday at 9:00 a.m., the hearing will be held where the judge will decide whether or not to join the process.

The 164 adults and three minors were arrested in possession of just over 230 weapons last Saturday in the town of Tiamba, Uruapan, where they were intercepted by a convoy of the Civil Guard, National Guard and Army.
