Silvano contradicts himself, in interview he claimed to have a ranch in Lagunillas, now he denies it

Morelia, Michoacán.- The former governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles Conejo, declared in an interview with journalist Maribel Ibarra for Quien magazine on October 2nd, 2015 to have a ranch in Lagunillas, near Morelia.

In the printed magazine, the following can be read: “I must have about 20 horses, I have them on my ranch in Lagunillas, near Morelia.”

However, in his declaration of assets when he assumed office as governor in 2015, he omitted the ranch in question, in defiance of the Administrative Responsibilities Law for the State of Michoacán, a law that establishes penalties of disqualification in case a public servant omits information or falsifies it during their declaration of assets, according to articles 63 and 69.

Later, on January 24th of this year, an operation was carried out with elements of the Mexican Army at the Las Joyitas ranch in Lagunillas, where three bodyguards of former governor Silvano Aureoles Conejo were located, who avoided declaring the reason for being inside the property during the operation.

A few minutes later, the former state governor declared through a video on social media that the ranch in question is not his, however, he avoided declaring what three of his bodyguards were doing on this property.

It should be noted that Silvano Aureoles Conejo’s statements on October 2nd, 2015 and January 24th, 2023 are completely opposite, as in the first he admits to having a ranch in Lagunillas, while in 2023 he rejects his own statements and, on the contrary, accuses of political persecution.

These inconsistencies and contradictions in Silvano Aureoles’ statements suggest possible attempts to hide alleged acts of corruption of which Aureoles Conejo would have supposedly taken advantage through fronts, to avoid declaring the real extent of his assets both in cash and in properties, to the possible detriment of the public finances of Michoacán.
