Former Governor of Michoacán let police sleep in plastic houses, while he slept in a anti-bomb bunker

Morelia, Mich., March 15, 2023.- Plastic walls and ceilings, lack of water, cracked walls and hollow walls are the constant in the state police barracks, where former governor Silvano Aureoles Conejo spent more than 5 billion pesos from the state budget, but in reality, at least 3.4 billion pesos were diverted in favor of the PRD politician.

In his last year in office, Aureoles boasted the construction of 11 state barracks, four of which he intended to finish quickly, but which to this day do not work due to deficiencies in their construction, as serious as the lack of drainage, despite hundreds of millions of pesos spent on the construction of each one.

The barracks share the low quality of their construction in the areas designated for the troops, with plastic walls and ceilings, hollow walls, non-functional drainage and treatment plants in the same situation.

This contrasts with the areas designated for the then Governor’s use, as he had a special wing with three rooms, each with its own bathroom and living room, bulletproof glass and armored walls, as well as a garden, palapa, grill and kitchen.

According to estimates by federal and state authorities who are already investigating the case, the damage caused by Aureoles and four other state officials to public coffers amounts to around 3.4 billion pesos.
