Silvano Aureoles ruled out from seeking candidacy for the Opposition Front

México City- Former governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles Conejo, is currently disqualified from holding public office, a sanction imposed by the State Comptroller’s Office that practically excludes him from the process to choose the candidate of the Va Por México alliance.

In February of this year, the State Comptroller’s Office of Michoacán disqualified the former public official for 11 months due to his failure to report his financial situation upon leaving the position of governor, as required by law.

Aureoles Conejo raised his hand to seek the nomination of the alliance between PAN-PRD-PRI to run for the Presidency of the Republic, but his disqualification remains in effect until January.

The former governor did not submit his financial declaration at the end of his term; Michoacán’s regulations stipulate that he was obligated to submit his final financial declaration within 40 days after stepping down from his position as head of the Executive Power.

It is worth noting that his term ended on September 30, 2021, but he submitted his declaration on October 29, 2022. Furthermore, he failed to submit his amended declaration in May 2021, which he submitted over a year after the deadline established by the regulations.
