Mexico City.- The governments of Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia issued a joint statement regarding the elections in Venezuela.

In the text, they call on the electoral authorities of Venezuela to disclose the information contained in the vote counting records, to dispel any doubts and claims made by the Venezuelan opposition.

The three governments acknowledged the broad citizen participation during the electoral process, and thus stated it is essential to clarify the matter thoroughly, so that there are no doubts about the outcome.

“Controversies over the electoral process must be resolved through institutional channels. The fundamental principle of popular sovereignty must be respected through the impartial verification of the results,” they stated in the joint position.

Furthermore, they noted that any differences should be resolved through institutional means, to avoid contributing to the region’s instability.
